Navigating the Collective

Develop a strategy that allows you to contribute to the bigger picture, remain authentic and have your needs met.

Each of us is called at certain points in our lives to figure out how to interact with the collective - getting a job, choosing a social group, making decisions about how we want to fit in with the greater whole. This is the challenge that is most suited to the depth and complexity of Astrology. As an individual, I know my own feelings, in a relationship I get immediate feedback, but in dealing with the collective I am required to find my own way and develop the patience to interpret the signals I get from my social interactions with maturity and objectivity. This can help me to achieve my goals and fulfill my purpose.

Navigating the physical ocean means making the leap into getting on a ship and venturing out beyond the safety of the land into the open seas. Navigating the Living Cosmos means joining a group, committing to a career path or getting a job - taking you out into the open waters of the collective, way less in your control than your own individual reactions or those of your partners. As a system of knowledge, Astrology is most suited to understanding collective trends because it is based on the largest metaphor we have, the Cosmos itself. The study of history and events that change the social fabric can give us insight into the roots of our current trends and clues about how we can best integrate our own personal energies with these trends. Like surfing, navigating the larger currents of the open ocean is a complex equation that requires the synthesis of many unpredictable forces and ultimately the exercise of intuition by a skilled Captain. As the Captain of your own ship, you have to make your own decisions about how to proceed on these larger issues - Living Astrology is like having a weather report and a set of reliable coordinates to allow you to understand the forces at work and make an informed decision about which way to go.
